AeroCrisp AF-550 Review: Six Weeks of Daily Use

Laila Hassan · Kitchen Editor Last updated: July 10, 2026
Quick verdict
8.7 / 10

The best air fryer for most kitchens: even results, easy cleanup, and a fair price. If you regularly feed more than four, look at the bigger pick in the alternatives.

Real-use notes

We used the AF-550 nearly every day for six weeks: fresh and frozen fries, chicken wings, roasted vegetables, even pizza reheats. What stood out most is how even the results are — a basket of fries comes out uniformly golden with just one shake at the halfway mark.

Cleanup is a genuine strength: the basket and crisper plate go straight into the dishwasher, and the exterior wipes down with a cloth. After six weeks we saw no flaking on the non-stick coating.

The complaints are practical rather than fundamental: the timer chime is so quiet you may miss it from the next room, and the unlit buttons are hard to read in dim evening light. Neither affected results — but you notice both in daily use.

Frequently asked questions

Is the basket dishwasher-safe?

Yes — both the basket and the crisper plate are dishwasher-safe. That is how we cleaned them for the entire test with no issues.

Does it need preheating?

For most foods, 2–3 minutes of preheat gives noticeably more even results — especially with frozen fries.

Is 5.5L enough for a family of four?

For sides and mains up to about 1 kg, yes. A large whole chicken needs a wider drawer like the ChefAir Pro XL.

How loud is it?

About as loud as a microwave — audible, but easy to talk over in the kitchen.

Alternatives worth considering

Bottom line: our first pick for most kitchens If the budget fits and 5.5L suits your household, you won’t regret it.
